Swiss Red Cross badge.
The Swiss Red Cross is known as Rotes Kreuz in the German speaking part of Switzerland, Croix-Rouge Suisse in the French speaking part, and Croce Rossa Svizzera in the Italian speaking part. It is the national red cross society of Switzerland.
The Swiss Red Cross was founded in 1866 in Bern, Switzerland, in accordance with the Geneva Convention. The Swiss Red Cross is Switzerland's oldest and largest relief agency, made up of 24 cantonal leagues, five rescue organizations, three foundations and two societies.
Switzerland is an important country for the Red Cross Movement because it was the ideas of Swiss businessman Henry Dunant that led to the global Red Cross Movement.
