Description
Toy dressing table and stand made from plaited string with black patterned fabric backing. The object was crafted by an internee at Liebenau Internment Camp using string from Red Cross food parcels. There is no mirror in the frame as internees would use whatever materials they had to hand for their crafts.

Ilag V Liebenau was an internment camp near W├╝rttemberg in Germany that operated during the Second World War from 1940-1945. It was set up by German authorities to hold allied citizens, predominantly women and children, living in occupied territory. The Red Cross provided food parcels to the internees, bulking out their food rations.
