Description
Ceramic mug celebrating the investiture of HRH Prince Edward as Prince of Wales by HM King George V. The front of the mug is decorated with a crest displaying the image of Prince Edward (later Edward VIII) in naval uniform surrounded by the motto of the Order of the Garter: 'Honi Soit Qui Mal Y Pense' which translates from French as 'May he be shamed who thinks badly of it.' In addition to this is written: 'To commemorate the investiture of HRH The Prince of Wales by H.I.M George V at Carnarvon Castle, July 11th 1911.' The reverse of the mug displays the Red Cross emblem and the Welsh: 'Duw Fendithio Dywysog Cymru,' meaning God Bless the Prince of Wales.
