Description
Table mat made from seven delicate flower-shaped pink string roundels.

Mat was made by an internee at Liebenau Internment Camp. Internees would entertain themselves by crafting objects using packaging from Red Cross food parcels, including the string.

Ilag V Liebenau was an internment camp near W├╝rttemberg in Germany that operated during the Second World War from 1940-1945. It was set up by German authorities to hold allied citizens, predominantly women and children, living in occupied territory. The Red Cross provided food parcels to the internees, bulking out their food rations.
