Description
Bronze medal made by Fonson and Sons featuring portraits of Edith Cavell and Marie Depage by A Bonnetain. Edith Cavell (1865-1915) was a pioneering English nurse who whilst the head of a Red Cross Hospital in Belgium, was executed by the Germans during World War I for helping Belgian and Allied fugitives to evade capture. Marie Depage (1872-1915) was the wife of Doctor Antoine Depage whom Cavell had gone to work for in Belgium. Marie Depage drowned when the Lusitania was torpedoed. On the reverse: 1915 REMEMBER!
