Description
Small poster: 'Help our Wounded! Send a donation to the Red Cross & St John, St James's Palace, London, SW1.' The poster features Kenneth Burnett, who enlisted on 1 April 1939 (aged 16yrs 11mths), returning injured from the battle in Caen to South England on 28 June 1944. At the outbreak of war he was with The Royal Artillery Coast Regiment Anti-aircrart Gunner and The Kings Shropshire Light Infantry. He was then transferred to The East Yorkeshire Regiment around March 1944, where he was on one of the first landing craft to land on Sword Beach 6 June 1944. He rejoined The East Yorkshire Regiment in Belgium, continuing into Germany with British Liberation Army until March 1946. He was awarded the Legion of Honour Medal on 22 December 2015.
