Description
Two pieces of zeppelin wire sold in aid of the British Red Cross during the First World War, from the first Zeppelin brought down at Cuffley, Herts, September 3rd 1916. Wire originally came in a small envelope (now open) which displays the Red Cross emblem in the top left corner and has the following text: 'Price One Shilling. Guarantee. This piece of wire is from the first Zeppelin brought down at Cuffley, Herts, September 3rd 1916. The wire having been given to the British Red Cross Society by H.M. War Office, it is being sold to help the wounded at the front.'
