Description
Decorative silver plaque in a brown case presented to the British Red Cross by the National Disaster Management Centre Maldives. Plaque is in the shape of an unrolled scroll resting on two leaves and has the following inscription:
'Presented to / British Red Cross / in acknowledgement and gratitude from / people of maldives / for your tremendous support /in re-building the nation under the / Tsunami Recovery Program - Maldives / (2005-2009) / National Disaster Recovery Management Centre Maldives.'

History
The National Disaster Management Centre is part of the Government. After the tsunami they formed a Housing and Infrastructure Reconstruction Unit as part of this Government body. BRCS supported this by placing someone from Red Cross to work within this Unit. We therefore had a very close working relationship with them.
