Description
Large hat from uniform 1910-1919 with members badge. Navy blue wool, with green cloth hand sewn on the interior of the brim. Quilt like sewing to underside of crown. Brim has a moulded insert to maintain the shape. There is a hook sewn onto the rear of the hat which conects to a stitch to hold the back of the hat down. Gilt hat badge is secured by its own pin. Pin shows shield in white with a red cross emblem, encircled by the words 'The British Red Cross Society' and in scroll work below 'Inter Arma Caritas.' Hat has a white cotton cover for the crown which secures witha hook and eye.
