History
The artist, Marion Saumarez, served as a nurse at Shrubland Park Hospital during World War I. Her family owned Shrublands Park and gave it to the Red Cross for the duration of the war to use as a hospital. This was painted shortly after the war ended and was given to Claydon Red Cross Detachment in 1950 by the artist.
