Description
Artery forceps were primarily used to arrest haemorrhage by clasping the cut end of blood vessel. Their blades are grooved to ensure a firm grip and there is a rachet on the handles to keep the blades firmly together once the instrument is closed. Also used for other purposes when a firm grip is required, such as holding swabs.
