Description
Embroidery of the Regimental badge of The Royal Sussex Regiment. Made by Private Dudman while he was convalescing in a Brighton hospital during the First World War. With photocopied biographical notes re MM and army service. Embroidery was a popular activity among convalescing servicemen. The work was considered to be therapeutic and to aid their rehabilitation. Naturally soldiers often chose to embroider military subjects.
