Description
Black and white photograph of the Harrow train crash, 8 October 1952. On this date the Middlesex Branch of the British Red Cross received an urgent call from the matron of the Edgware General Hospital for 25 nurses after a train disaster at Harrow and Wealdstone station. Within 15 minutes 26 personnel from Hendon and Finchley Division had reported at the hospital. The Commandant of Harrow detachment set up a first aid post at the railway station. Follow up welfare work was carried out with visits to hospitals and contacting relatives in other parts of country.
