Photograph of Margaret Thatcher (Leader of the Opposition) buying a pin during Red Cross Week. Mrs Olive Prentice is pictured selling the flag to Margaret Thatcher which attracted over 20 press photographers. Pictures appeared in five national and many local papers. Mrs Prentice was the oldest surviving relative of Florence Nightingale and Director of the London Branch during the Second World War. Red Cross Week is an annual event, held nationally since 1971. It is centred around World Red Cross Day on 8 May, which is the date of Henry Dunant 's birth, the founder of the Red Cross Movement.
