Earliest records for the Dorset branch date from around 1907.





In 1974, due to county boundary changes, the Bournemouth and Christchurch districts of the Hampshire branch were transferred to the Dorset Red Cross branch.





In 2004, Dorset became part of the British Red Cross Cornwall, Devon, Dorset and Somerset and Channel Isles Area in the Wales and Western Region.
