Some of the main events during 1951 were: the Red Cross Exhibition opened by the Prime Minister, Clement Atlee; the provision of first aid at the Festival of Britain; distributing medication following a smallpox outbreak in Sussex; the response of Northamptonshire Branch to the Weedon rail disaster; and the sending of a civilian relief team to Korea.
