Some of the main events during 1980 were: Hong Kong Branch continutg to run a camp and medical centre for Vietnamese refugees; helping Branches and Committees in Zimbabwe, the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Kiribati and Tuvalu prepare to become independent National Societies; and the launching of appeals following earthquakes in Algeria and Italy.
