Some of the main events during 1931 were: the formation of an Empire Red Cross Committee; the re-introduction of a Red Cross Day to be held on Florence Nightingale's birthday, 12 May; arrangement with the Royal Automobile Club to place first aid equipment in sentry boxes on arterial road; and the submission of a scheme to establish air ambulance detachments.
