Black and white photograph showing Red Cross volunteers responding after a coach carrying 53 French children was involved in a head-on collision with a lorry during an early morning storm in Hampshire. The volunteers were first on the scene before the ambulance paramedics had arrived. Valerie and Peter Franks treated the badly injured and helped trapped children to escape through emergency windows.
