Black and white photograph showing a member comforting a teenager after violence at a football match at the Norwich City ground. It was the only First Division football ground for which the Red Cross had sole responsibility for first aid back up. The incident increased in severity when spectators were pushed forwards by people behind them. It was the worst instance of crowd trouble at a football match ever seen in Norwich. The police and Red Cross volunteers pulled people from the crush, placed injured people on stretchers and took them to the first aid room. Thirty-three casualties were taken to the first aid room and four people were sent to hospital for further treatment. The Red Cross officer in charge of the first aid room was Audrey Mason.
