Description
Milka used the online design software Canva to create her patch for the EmpowHER quilt, following a masterclass delivered to the young women and girls by two participants of the British Red Cross’ International Youth Volunteer Programme. She hopes that when people see her patch and the quilt as a whole, they will “be inspired.”

History
The New Routes Integration youth group was part of the fourth and final cohort of the EmpowHER programme in January 2021. The organisation works with refugees, migrants, asylum seekers and their families to support their wellbeing and ambitions.
Milka joined the group initially to “make new friends and have fun.” However, she found her experience incredibly inspiring as she learnt “about young women trying hard to make their dreams come true.”
