Description
Rhian created her patch using a new skill she learned during the Covid-19 lockdown. However, the message behind her piece is inspired by the young women and girls she got to know during her time with the EmpowHER programme.
"Working on EmpowHER has taught me that young women have the power to do anything that they want. The quote 'in a world where you can be anything, be kind' reflects how I want everyone who has been involved in EmpowHER to see their lives. I made this patch during the Covid-19 pandemic, so I included some sewing skills that I'd picked up during lockdown. I also included a piece of a friendship bracelet to remind us all that EmpowHER is a sisterhood. I hope that when people see this quilt, they are inspired by the young women and girls who made it, and they feel connected to them through the encouragement to be kind."

History
Rhian taught many youth groups she worked with how to use the Canva online design software. Several of the young women and girls then chose to use this when creating their patches for the EmpowHER quilt.
