Description
Wanting to make something positive to help others, Izzy was keen to get involved with the EmpowHER quilt project. She made a collage on her patch, explaining that she "made it by cutting plain fabric and adding different shapes of other fabrics with words on. I chose bright colours and positive words."

When deciding what to put on her design, Izzy chose to include four quotes, 'stay positive', 'don't worry', 'be happy', and 'don't doubt yourself'. Each of these has a family connection and is particularly important to her. "I chose them because my mum says them to me... I wanted to share them with others to help them too."

Izzy also hopes that the quilt will make people smile and that they too will be inspired by EmpowHER and the messages on all the patches. Reflecting on her time with EmpowHER, Izzy believes her confidence has flourished and now hopes she can help others. "I'm glad I was able to take part in EmpowHER. Making the quilt and the other tasks helped build my confidence, and hopefully, one day, I can help another girl to be part of it too. I hope that what our group did helped others."

History
Izzy got involved in EmpowHER through Essex Youth Service, who invited her to join a group. During her time with the programme, she participated in many different activities and projects, from making cups and coasters to creating a 'guess the animal' game. One of the most important things Izzy learnt was how "doing something small can make a big change."
