Description
At the start of the EmpowHER quilt project, the EmpowHER team at the British Red Cross created videos to make available online, explaining the different methods to make a patch.
Heidi was particularly inspired by Jess Knight (British Red Cross EmpowHER Youth Engagement Worker) and her explanatory videos in relation to the quilt. "I really looked to her to find out how I should go about doing it and what to include. I just tried to include all the things she asked, and so that really inspired me."

History
While completing her youth worker apprenticeship, Heidi worked with Young People Cornwall on the EmpowHER programme.
One of the social action projects by youth groups that particularly stood out to Heidi was the work with a residential care home. "They wanted to bring joy to a local residential care home. They made Christmas cards and biscuits for the residents and sang songs and carols for them. The residents were delighted, and the young people really engaged with them."
Another project which Heidi found inspiring was a project she led on, "making care packages for Refuge4Pets, a charity that fosters pets from domestic abuse survivors. They were really appreciative."
