History
This object was given to Colonel A R Garrett by Florence Nightingale in Crimea. An image of this appears in The British Red Cross Society Quarterly Review, vol. 38 No. 2 April 1951, with the following text: "There have been several references to the making of this film in the National Press recently, and Miss Anna Neagle and her husband have been carrying out extensive research about such details as the lamp. They paid a visit to Publicity Department some weeks ago, and Miss Neagle is here seen examining a Turkish burnous worn by one of Florence Nightingale's officer-patients in the Crimea. The department was also able to produce various photographs, including one of a water-heater - a neat little device which heats the water by means of a candle flame."
