Description
Khaki surgical instrument roll containing medical equipment. This contains: five Gillette needles, metal needle holder, two wooden tongue depressors, Brammer thermometer in plastic case, dissecting forceps for teeth, dissecting forceps, nail or cuticle scissors, artery forceps, safety pin, skin hook and double skin hook.
Dissecting forceps are shaped like tweezers and used for holding swabs when performing an operation or doing a dressing. Also used to pick up other small instruments such as needles or syringes and hold tissues during an operation.
Artery Forceps primarily used to arrest haemorrhage by clasping the cut end of blood vessel. Their blades are grooved to ensure a firm grip and there is a rachet on the handles to keep the blades firmly together once the instrument is closed. Also used for other purposes when a firm grip is required, such as holding swabs.
Skin hooks, also known as retractors, are used to hold the edges of a wound apart and can have single or double hooks.
