Description
Embroidered hanging made by patients at the Ministry of Pensions Hospital, Bath. Comprises a series of squares of embroidered flowers which are signed with a name and regiment. The wording at the top of the panel is 'And hie thee home at evenings close,/ To sweet repast and calm repose' which is a line from Ode on the Pleasure arising from Vicissitude by Thomas Gray (1716-1771). Beneath the flowers: 'Embroidered by wounded Men/ in the /Pensions Hospital/ BATH/ 1923'.
