Description
Black and white photograph of a female member of the British Red Cross at a mobile first aid post. The battledress top carries three cloth badges: Lewisham badge, ARP badge and [Red Cross with emblem in centre]. The photograph is captioned: Red Cross in Action in 3 minutes. Episode No 6. From one of the south-eastern suburbs of London comes a mobile unit member wearing the dark blue serge ARP trousers-uniform. She wears an electric head-light and the trousers, though no so graceful and dignified as the traditional nurses uniform, are practical for clambering over debris.
