Description
Tablecloth featuring the embroidered names of well-known individuals, including the Duke of Gloucester, Duchess of Gloucester, Lady Edwina Mountbatten, Princess Mary and Clementine Churchill.
The tablecloth was embroidered from signatures obtained by the donor's father at his 'Bring and Buy' shop at Streatham Hill Congregational Church during the Second World War. The shop opened on 22 July 1940 and raised £12,000 (£469,000 today) for the British Red Cross.
