'Sam Browne' leather belt.

A Sam Browne belt is made from leather and has a supporting strap that passes over the right shoulder. It is the type that is often worn by the military and police officers. It takes its name from its inventor Sir Samuel J. Browne (1824–1901), who was a general in the British Indian Army.
