Description
Dummy bar of chocolate: 'Greetings from the War Organisation. British Red Cross Society and Order of St John of Jerusalem.' Rowntree's Blended Chocolate with vitamins. Chocolate was constantly asked for by prisoners. From 1943, it was fortified with vitamin A. Early in 1944, the "relief chocolate", issued to the Services, replaced the former type to save manufacturing two kinds. "Relief chocolate", although having lower vitamin A content was considerably richer in calcium and vitamins B and C.
