The Florence Nightingale Medal was awarded to honour those persons who have distinguished themselves in times of peace or war by exceptional courage and exemplary service. The Medal was established by the International Committee of the Red Cross at the 8th International Conference of the Red Cross in 1907 and first awarded in 1920.
