Description
British Red Cross War Medal awarded to Miss Violet Filer. Miss Filer undertook a variety of work during the First World War, including organising and assisting teas and concerts for wounded soldiers; Work Room (sewing, knitting, collecting, repairing) and visiting the Auxiliary Hospital at Hanover Park Hospital, Peckham. The medal was awarded to members of the Society or its Voluntary Aid Detachments whose unpaid service during the First World War amounted to not less than 1000 hours, and to ambulance drivers and bearers who gave not less than 500 hours unpaid service.
