Box of sterilised surgical ligature, 'ultratan' (chromicised) catgut, dated 1 April 1957 in orginal box containing 6 out of an orginal 12 tubes of catgut each containing approximately five feet. Box is labelled with information including number of days in which catgut the is absorbed in the muscle and advice of use for abdominal and gynaecological work.
