History
The National Hospital Service Reserve worked in peacetime to recruit, train and organise in a reserve of men and women qualified in first aid and home nursing. In wartime, these reserves would provide the additional staff required for the greatly expanded hospital service as well as staffing Mobile First Aid Units and static first-aid posts at hospitals.
