Description
Black and white photograph of male and female members of the British Red Cross on duty at the British Empire Exhibition at Wembley. The British Red Cross provided personnel to carry out First Aid duties in alternate months with the Order of St John, as well as ambulances jointly, and a day nursery was staffed. This was the first occasion that the British Red Cross and Order of St John jointly carried out civilian work on such a scale.
