Contains minutes, reports, correspondence, circulars and memoranda relating to the administration of the department. Papers and correspondence documenting the drawing to a close of the Joint Committee are also included, along with information about links between the EWDH and Joint Committee and other organisations such as the Star and Garter home and the Not Forgotten Association. Financial documents and administrative records for county branches are also included, along with information about the amalgamation of branches in the early 1970s. Decisions made in individual cases and case files for individuals who requested and/or received assistance from the EWDH are also included.

Ex-services War Disabled Help Department provided support and financial assistance to ex-servicemen who fought in conflicts since World War One and their families, as well as nurses who worked as VADs. Support was provided at county and regional level, as well as through the headquarters based at Grosvenor Crescent in London.
