Signed minutes of meetings from the seventy-fourth meeting held on 2 November 1933 to the one hundred and eighteenth meeting held on 15 July 1955.
Matters discussed included: appointments to the Executive Committee; the work of British Red Cross ambulance units in Abyssinia; the appointment of the Duke of Gloucester as the new chairman in 1937; approval for the formation of several Overseas Branches; the establishment of an Overseas Department in 1947; relief for India and Pakistan; relief in Palestine; HRH Princess Elizabeth becoming patron of the Junior Red Cross; and relief work in Korea.
The volume contains papers presented to the Council including: Voluntary Aid Detachment reports; reports from the Executive Committee; report on the work of the Joint War Emergency Committee about the readiness of the two organisations should war break out, c spring 1939; memorandum of agreement between the Order of St John and the British Red Cross, 2 September 1939; reports on War Organisation activities; press report on the Royal visit to Barnett Hill with photographs, 1944; the constitutions for Bahamas Central Council Branch, Nigeria Central Council Branch and Gold Coast Branch; and reports from visits to Overseas Branches.
