Signed minutes of meetings from the one hundred and forty-eighth meeting held on 6 May 1970 to the one hundred and fifty-sixth meeting held on 19 July 1973.





Matters discussed included: the appointment of Prince Philip as the new chairman; appointments to the Executive Committee; the granting of an amendement to the Royal Charter; the first country wide Red Cross Week held in 1971 following the pioneering of the idea in Scotland; changes in local government boundaries in England and Wales; and receiving refugees from Uganda.





The volume contains the agendas for the meetings and some papers presented to the Council including: awards of the certificate of honour class I; memorandum on the retirement of Lord Inchyra as chairman of the Executive Committee; accounts of National Headquarters for the years ending 31 December 1969, 1970 and 1972; text of amendments to the Royal Charter; reorganisation of the Red Cross in the Greater London area; report on arrangements for the reconstitution of local branches in England and Wales; submission for the award of the Florence Nightingale medal to Helen Joyce Cholmeley; and a report and memorandum on Value Added Tax
