File contains certificates awarded to Ruth Allender for her service with the Red Cross as a VAD nurse during the First World War. File also contains pocketbook guidelines issued to VADs, a signed agreement for VAD members and others employed in military hospitals, and three pieces of correspondence regarding her service at the 15th (Service) Battalion Hospital in Cheshire, the Birkenhead Military Hospital, and the Campbell Hospital. It is not clear what Ruth's connection is with the Hampshire Branch.
