Official register of Herts/96 (Tring) Women's VA Detachment for 1941 and 1942. Covers Surnames R-Z.

Includes list of names of members, addresses, rank in the detachment, certificates (in first aid, nursing, anti-gas, hygiene, cookery & infant welfare), any other qualifications, date of enrolment, whether they were mobile or immobile VADs, register of attendances at meetings and any other remarks. Any other remarks covers the type of duty they were doing, e.g. First Aid Post, work in hospitals, ambulance driving etc, reasons for discharge from the VAD.

The Hertfordshire branch was inaugurated on 16 April 1907, the first two detachments of VADs in Hertfordshire were formed in 1910. In 1965 the branches boundaries were redefined. The largest division, Barnet, moved into the Greater London area whilst the Potters Bar division moved from Middlesex into the Hertfordshire branch. In 1975, major reorganisation saw the branch adminstration change from nine divisions into four districts and 33 centres.
