This file consists of correspondence and related documentation regarding the British Red Cross Society's assistance with relief work to help Algerian Refugees in Tunisia and Morocco. Correspondence and documentation is also concerned with an appeal from the 'Algerian Red Crescent' for help from National Societies for Algerian Refugees. The Algerian Red Crescent was not recognised as the National Society of Algeria by the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement until 1963, after Algeria gained independence from France. Until this time, the French Red Cross was the official Red Cross National Society of Algeria.
