The report contains information on: officials; headquarters report; the capital accounts and income and expenditure accounts for the year ending 31 December 1945; Branch reports from the British Isles; the Red Cross in the Empire; and the International Red Cross. The report also contains an account of activities undertaken by each Branch in connection with the War Organisation.





Some of the main events during 1945 were: the appointment of Major-General L A Hawes as secretary-general to co-ordinate the work of the British Red Cross at home and overseas; the establishment of a hospital car service in conjunction with the Order of St John and the WVS; and the first national Red Cross youth members' conference attended by Princess Elizabeth.
