Some of the main events during 1976 were: the formation of a British Red Cross Committee in Anguilla; the former Branch in the Seychelles becoming an independent National Society; responding in Guatemala and Turkey following earthquakes; and assisting with refugees following the outbreak of conflict in Algeria.
