Description
Black and white photograph showing older and disabled people on a Red Cross run holiday at Pontin's Holiday camp in Lowestoft in autumn 1975. Five hundred people went on holiday with two hundred and eight Red Cross helpers. The holiday was an annual event provided free of charge by Fred Pontin. Red Cross workers from across East Anglia took guests to the camp and for the first time in 1975 they were joined by a group from Cheshire. Junior Red Cross members played a significant part in the holidays, with each Junior being given responsibility for a guest.
