History
Under Ottoman rule and as mainly a Christian population, the people of Armenia suffered injustices and massacres at the hands of the Ottoman Empire. In 1895 this repression and massacre was bought to the attention of those in the West, including Great Britain who condemned the treatment of the Armenians and the National Society was involved in providing aid to the victims.
