History
As a member of the Trinidad and Tobago Branch of the British Red Cross, Albert McAllister was called on several occasions during the Second World War to treat sailors who were on merchant ships torpedoed in the waters of Trinidad and Tobago.
The Trinidad and Tobago Red Cross Society was founded in 1939 as a branch of the British Red Cross. After the country gained independence from Britain in 1962, it became a recognised independent national society in 1963.
