Description
Badge awarded by Borough of Wandsworth through the Mayor, Archibald D Dawnhay. Awarded to Mrs Brisley for her voluntary work within the borough during the First World War. Circular with borough coat of arms. Embossed on reverse 'Borough of Wandsworth, Archibald D Dawnhay JP CE, Mayor 10th Year 1917'. With note 'With the Mayor of Wandsworths great appreciation of your kind work'. Maud Brisley was a member of Wandsworth/312 and 'Served as Assistant of London/154 from the date of its registration in July 1914. Became Divisional Secretary of Wandsworth March 1916. There was then a detachment with about 30 members. There are now 4 detachments with about 350 members. Helped in organisation of teas for wounded. Organised 4 working parties. Organised classes in First Aid and Home Nursing which are held each quarter.'
