History
A collop is a slice of meat and so minced collops is minced meat. Meat was a food high in protein value and a necessity because of its shortage in POW camp rations. In 1940, net weight of hot and cold meats included in each parcel was 32ozs. This was reduced to 20ozs in 1941 at the request of the Ministry of Food because of meat shortage, and increased in January 1942 to 26ozs. Maximum amount of meat per tin allowed by Ministry of Food from 1941 was 45%.
