Description
Small round metal badge mainly gold in colour with the words 'The British Red Cross Soc' in gold on a navy blue background and the word 'Associate' in navy blue on a gold background. The words circle around a central gold circle featuring a white shield with a red cross at its centre. The badge is attached to clothing by a safety pin fastening on the back under which is the makers stamp. Mrs Brown was a state registered nurse working at Borradaile Trust a couple of evenings a month giving out suppers and tablets. She also worked at a Clinic in the African Township of Dombo-Timbo where she helped out with dressings in the outpatients department. Mrs Brown believes that this work was with the Red Cross.
